The Tree Hugger will be closed on the
Xin Chào from the Tree Hugger Café
Opened since early 2014, the Tree Hugger is a small place that hopes to make people happy by providing space for taking a rest, for contemplating, or meeting and discussing with friends while sipping on a Vietnamese coffee or enjoying fresh drinks and food. We are also constantly trying to increase provision of both more historical and travel information for locals and visitors about Dong Hoi and its surroundings as well as about the many ethnic minorities who call Vietnam their home. Since 2016, we followed our passion for handcrafted items made by the latter and opened a little store on the second floor of the Tree Hugger.
Would you like to organise small events such as talks and courses concerning the environment or Vietnamese culture, or music sessions, please contact us.
Long being fascinated with traditional textiles made from natural materials such as cotton and hemp and the patterns drawn and knitted on these by ethnic minorities from Vietnam and South-East Asia, the Tree Hugger Store is for those who value old and new hand-made products. Each item is unique and possesses its own little story.
Information on Dong Hoi & It`s Surroundings
International travellers mainly consider Dong Hoi as a base for trips to the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Vietnam's biggest National Park well-known for it's caves and cave systems, which is a mere 45km away. Vietnamese visitors know the city also for its beaches and seafood. Yet, if you spend a number of days here, Dong Hoi is a good place to discover daily small city life.
Reducing Our Impact on the Environment
The name ‘Tree Hugger’ carries responsibility and you may wonder what makes us different from other shops, restaurants or cafés in this town in terms of being ‘more environmentally-friendly’ or ‘more sustainable’. In fact, it may not be anything, or not a lot. We try, however, just with the name, our own behavior and small initiatives to raise a little more awareness for both the human and the natural environment.
We are far from perfect and so are also happy for any inspirations you may have...
